  • RNCM Chamber Music Concert/Q&A

    Millfield Senior School, 10th September, 7.15-9pm / Free admission to all

    Join us for a very special evening of music and conversation, as 4th-year and postgraduate string players from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) share the stage following a remarkable month-long tour of South Africa, where they performed Schubert’s String Quintet in venues across the country. This intimate concert will feature both ensemble and solo string performances, showcasing the individual artistry of each player. We’re also delighted to introduce our new graduate accompanist, Yiyi Su within the ensemble. Beyond the music, the evening will include a Q&A session—a chance for students and audience members to hear first hand about life at music college: the challenges, the highlights, and the unforgettable experiences that shape young musicians. This is a rare opportunity to connect with a group of performers whose deep friendship and shared passion for music shine through in every note they play. Don’t miss what promises to be a moving and memorable event.

  • ‘Not Yet. Not Then’. A level Drama Devised Theatre

    Inspired by the ideas and characters of Own Sheer’s groundbreaking play Pink Mist, our A level drama students showcase their theatrical creativity as they perform their own devised work. Expect highly physical and engaging short pieces, performed with skill and impact.

    Open to drummers and percussionists of all ages and abilities, this new ensemble offers a fantastic opportunity to develop ensemble skills and gain valuable performance experience. Led by Mr. Rigby, the group will meet for creative workshops each half term, focusing on rhythm, collaboration, and musical creativity in a fun and supportive environment. Don’t miss the chance to be part of something dynamic and inspiring — come make some noise with us!

  • Tea and Music

    Millfield Senior School, 2nd October, 4-5pm / Free admission to all

    Join us for a delightful afternoon of tea, treats, and talent! Enjoy a cup of tea and something sweet while supporting our young musicians (Grades 1–5) as they showcase a varied mix of instrumental and vocal solos. This informal performance opportunity helps students grow in confidence and gain valuable experience. Tea is served at 4pm, with performances beginning at 4.15pm. We’d love to see you there!

  • Minerva Lecture: Kriss Akabusi

    Millfield Senior School, 2nd October, 7-8.30pm / Free admission to all

    Former British sprinter and hurdler, Kriss Akabusi will speak about his background, journey and career as anelite athlete. He willl cover the topics of diversity in sport, teamwork and realising your dreams. Kriss is an internationally-renowned athlete, broadcaster and motivational speaker.

    We’re kicking off the new school year with a fresh take on a much-loved event. Now held in the Johnson Hall Foyer, this intimate space offers a more relaxed atmosphere, with easier access to the servery for drinks and snacks. As daylight pours in, the setting feels beautifully connected to our school’s surroundings—perfect for an evening of live music. ome along and unwind with a mix of cover songs and original pieces, performed by our talented students.   • Evening Recital

    Join us for the first Recital Evening of the school year, featuring solo performances from some of our most accomplished musicians—Grades 6 and above. We are especially proud to showcase our A level music students, who take to the stage after months of dedicated preparation. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear a wide range of repertoire performed with skill, expression, and maturity by our senior musicians.

    We’re excited to continue our dynamic collaboration with the Somerton Concert Band as we head into our fourthear of music-making together!
    If you play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming, multi-generational ensemble and be part of something special. Our recent performance at the June 2025 Community Day, featuring timeless hits from across the decades, was a brilliant celebration of shared musicianship. Playing alongside experienced musicians is a great way to build confidence, improve sight-reading, and develop ensemble skills. All abilities welcome—if you play a wind or percussion instrument, we’d love to have you on board

  • Meyer Theatre Launch: 30th Anniversary Season

    This events marks not only the start of another season of engaging and creative theatre productions performed in the Meyer Theatre, but also celebrates 30 years of the theatre itself. Join students from across the Dance and Drama programme as they perform sneak previews of forthcoming shows and highlights from the past 30 years of stagecraft.

  • Minerva Lecture: Dr Anna Beer

    Millfield Senior School, 6th November, 7.15-8.15pm / Free admission to all

    Fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford, Dr Anna Beer is early-modernist, biographer and feminist cultural historian. She will be talking about her journey as an academic, navigating the creative industries and her research on the lives of important individuals, from Walter Raleigh, Shakespeare and Milton, to women in English literature and classical music.

  • Year 9 & 10 Drama Production: ‘Tuesday, Alison Carr’

    Millfield Senior School, 13th November, 7.15-8.30pm / Free admission to all

    Light, playful and a little bit sci-fi, Tuesday starts as an ordinary day that suddenly turns very weird indeed when a tear rips across the sky. The first performance project for our Year 9 drama students, who join our Year 10s in a production which touches on themes of friendship, sibling love, family, identity, grief, bullying, loneliness and responsibility. In the process we might just learn something about ourselves as well as some astronomical theories of the multiverse…

  • Tea, Dance and Drama

    Peter Jewell will give a Minerva Lecture on his life within the Law profession as part of Futures Week Peter is currently Managing Director at Resolve Law Group Limited. Peter’s talk will be both interesting and interactive and should be attended by anyone interested in a career in Law in the future.

  • Concert Band: Community Partnership

    Following a fantastic joint rehearsal in October, we’re excited to continue our fourth year of collaboration with the Somerton Concert Band.     100 years is a long time to be asleep… Our annual dance production is an exciting and modern theatrical retelling of Sleeping Beauty, imagining her to fall asleep in 1925 and awake in 2025. Showcasing the outstanding choreographic and performance work from the dance programme, it promises to bring the classic tale up to date with dynamic and expressive movement.

    This winters’s Music at Millfield concert takes a new direction, celebrating the richness and variety of instrumental music through a stunning programme of small ensemble performances. Set in the beautiful Johnson Hall, the evening will feature the String Orchestra, Symphonic Winds, Sinfonietta, and the Jazz Band—now under exciting new direction—alongside a diverse selection of chamber groups. From classical to contemporary, this concert showcases the artistry and energy of our instrumentalists, offering a vibrant musical journey with no vocals—just instruments in the spotlight.
